To clarify, hidden sciences are commonly known as Occult Sciences, and transcendental sciences are generally referred to as Paranormal Sciences.
Occult Sciences encompass all those fields of knowledge that we know as Ilm-ul-Huroof (science of letters), Ilm-ul-Jafar (geomancy/numerology), Ilm-ul-Adad (numerology), Ilm-ur-Ramal (divination by sand), Ilm-un-Naqsh (science of talismans/inscriptions), and other similar disciplines.
However, paranormal sciences include all those fields that focus on the acquisition of spiritual powers. This involves practices like Ashghal (spiritual exercises) and Muraqabat (meditation), breathwork (Amal-e-Tanaffus), Chilla-kashi (spiritual retreats), giving Zakat (spiritual purification/payment) of practices, and awakening healing and spiritual abilities. This also includes cultivating practices like Yoga and activating the spiritual eye, essentially enhancing ESP (Extrasensory Perception) and Psychic Abilities.
Regarding Occult Sciences, we stated long ago that these sciences are not spiritual; they have a scientific basis. Any knowledge that gives imagination to thought and certainty to the mind falls under the category of science. Thus, our mental faculties strive to give it the form of reality. In our view, all these sciences, such as astronomy (Ilm-e-Falakiyat), Ilm-ul-Huroof, Ilm-ul-Jafar, and Ilm-un-Naqsh, are connected to a form of science. These sciences involve an element of conjecture or estimation. In contrast, Parapsychology, or the science of beyond the psyche, is the knowledge of awakening spiritual abilities and powers within oneself.
This distinction is quite insightful, separating knowledge systems based on their underlying mechanisms and focus. It suggests that while occult sciences operate on a more “calculable” or “estimable” basis, paranormal sciences delve into the development of inherent spiritual capacities.
